Translation The hermitage (paḷḷi) was caused to be made by Cēkkant(i)aṇṇi, the mother of Cēkkanti of Perumpokaḻ.
Locus On the south face of the rock (known as Aṭukkaṉkal) outside the cave. The inscription is enclosed within a rectangular border; weather-beaten and worn thin, but legible.

1. Sampath (1994) reads ḻ and Rajavelu (1995) y.

2. Sampath reads ū and Rajavelu ru.

3. Lit., '(of) great fame', but here a place name. See ETE 2, Commentary (83.1).

4. A personal name (fem.). See ETE 2, Commentary (83.2).

5. Ka. tāyiyaru corresponding to Ta. tāyar, tāyār.

6. cēkkantaṇṇi is construed as cē-k-kant(i) + aṇṇi. See ETE 2, Commentary (83.4) for discussion.
