Translation Kaṭumipu(t)ta, the Cēra.

Notes

1. The -i medial stroke is added to the left limb of the letter.

2. The tall vertical line seen between the 4th and 5th letters is part of the earlier rock carvings.

3. A symbol, probably the palm tree, insignia of the Cēra dynasty. See ETE 2, Section 5.18 on the interpretation of the symbol.

4. A hybrid Tamil-Prakrit expression. cf. LT kaṭumāṉ. See ETE 2, Commentary (80.1) for the interpretation.

5. The earliest inscriptional occurrence of the dynastic name cēra. See ETE 2, Commentary (80.1) and Section 4.3.3.
