  ஆ. பனைதுறை வெஸன் அதட்அனம்
Translation The seat (atiṭṭāṉam) (is the gift) of Ve(s)saṉ of Paṉaituṟai.
Locus On a stone bed in the uppermost cave on the Ratnagirīśvarar hill.

Notes

1. The engraver had omitted this letter at first and added it later in smaller size above the line.

2. The estampage shows a dot resembling the puḷḷi to the right of this letter. A careful re-examination in situ has shown this to be a natural feature.

3. The village Paṉaittuṟai is across the river Cauvery flowing nearby (local informant).

4. vessaṉ. cf. vessa (Pkt.) < vaiśya (Skt.). Alternatively, <vaiśva (Skt.) 'Uttarāshāḍha' asterism. See ETE 2, Commentary (50.2).

5. Read atiṭ-āṉam (atiṭṭāṉam) 'seat'.
